Wild Outside
Wild Outside was established by Karen Weatherston and Heather Welsh in 2012. Karen and Heather are two experienced Level 3 qualified Forest School Practitioners who are trained in Outdoor First Aid and members of the PVG scheme. Karen works in a secondary school in Glasgow for part of the week where she leads outdoor learning across the curriculum. Heather delivers Environmental Education experiences in primary and secondary schools.
Wild Outside are based at the former SAC campus at Auchincruive, by Ayr, where there is a dedicated forest school site. However, Forest School sessions and birthday parties can be delivered at a wild place near you.
Full risk assessments of the site, tools used and all activities have been carried out to ensure that sessions are as safe as possible and the risks involved in the activities are properly managed. Forest School public and product liability insurance is provided by Birnbeck Insurance Services.
We are a Community Interest Company (CIC), which means that our profits are re-invested in community based programmes rather than shareholders.
